Overview

Resurfacing the skin is a great way to improve its condition, and chemical peels at our Leicester clinic  are often recommended for this purpose.

They can be used to address a range of conditions, such as: lines and wrinkles, dull / dry skin, pigmentation (age spots / melasma / sun damage), blocked pores and an uneven texture; removing the top layers of the skin to unveil a fresh, rejuvenated complexion.

At The One Clinic we perform light or medium chemical peels which are chosen specifically to meet the needs of the patient’s skin. After cleansing the skin, a solution is painted onto the face in layers. This is left to develop before removal, and the application of a soothing, nourishing serum.

A light peel is gentle on the skin and often suits those with a complexion that is sensitive, and prone to inflammation. It removes the very top layers and works to address mild skin concerns.

A medium peel works a little deeper and can improve moderate signs of ageing, as well as improving the skin’s texture and tone. Medium peels help to replenish damaged, pigmented cells for an all-over fresher, rejuvenated appearance.

In the days that follow the chemical peel the skin will start to flake, which is a normal response that indicates the treatment is working. This is not significant in appearance, and usually lasts for around 5-7 days.

FAQ

Am I suitable for this treatment?

The One Clinic’s doctors will always carry out a thorough pre-treatment consultation before recommending which chemical peel is most suitable for you. Whether a light or medium is suggested will depend on your concerns, and your expected results.

Is this treatment safe?

Chemical peels are safe to undergo when carried out by a trained doctor or aesthetic professional. The One Clinic takes a patient’s well-being very seriously and would not recommend a treatment if it isn’t in their best interests.

What can I expect after treatment?

A new layer of skin can be slightly more sensitive than normal. It will be beneficial for patients to ensure they apply a high SPF before going outside, and to use gentle products on their skin.

How many treatments will I need?

A chemical peel often needs a single treatment session to achieve the desired results. We may recommend including this treatment as part of your regular skincare regime to maintain incredible results. A light peel may need repeating once a month, whereas the results of a medium peel may last for around 6 months.
