What are face aesthetics for?

When we talk about face aesthetics, we are referring to any non-surgical treatment that can improve the visible signs of ageing. This includes helping to reduce lines and wrinkles and restoring a natural fullness to the face.

The most common treatment areas include the forehead, around the eyes, the cheeks and the lips. The main reasons why you should consider these treatments are:

  •       To tighten and lift sagging skin
  •       To smooth out fine lines and wrinkles
  •       To restore lost volume and plump the skin
  •       To add definition to the cheeks, nose or jawline area
  •       To fresh the under eye area

Dermal fillers

Dermal filler treatment also known as face filler treatment is one of the most sought-after treatments in the beauty market.

Dermal fillers are an injectable treatment that uses a soft gel-like substance to add volume to the skin. Their main ingredient is hyaluronic acid, which is naturally found in the skin. It helps to keep our skin hydrated and looking healthy. As we age, we lose levels of hyaluronic acid in our skin which is why it starts to look dull, tired and less firm.

Dermal fillers help to give your skin a boost of hydration, while also plumping and restoring lost volume. This reduces the appearance of deep lines and wrinkles, giving you a more soft and smooth look.

Facial fillers can also add more structure to the cheeks and jawline to create more definition in the lower face. They also work to lift sagging skin, which is why we use them to treat a double chin and droopy jowls.

How long do the results last?

You will start to see some results after your treatment. It may take 24-48 hours for any swelling and redness to go down. This is when your final results will show.

You can expect the results to last for up to 12 months. For some people, they can last for up to 18 months. This will depend on how your body responds to the fillers. This includes how quickly your metabolism breaks down the dermal fillers.

We usually advise patients to come back into the clinic for a top-up treatment at the 12-month mark. This will ensure that you maintain your youthful-looking skin.

Am I suitable for dermal fillers?

People who are in good health and have no underlying health conditions are good candidates for dermal fillers. You will need to meet with one of our doctors so that they can assess your skin and look at your medical history. This will help us make sure you are suitable for this treatment.

Wrinkle relaxing injections

Anti-wrinkle injections, also known as Botox, are a popular treatment that works by relaxing the muscles in the face. This helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes and mouth. This leaves you with smoother-looking skin.

This treatment only stops muscle contraction for a short while. This means your facial muscles will return to their normal function eventually.

Anti-wrinkle treatment only works for dynamic wrinkles that result from using the muscles in your face. This includes frown lines, crow’s feet and smile lines.

If you have deeper wrinkles that remain static on your face even when it is resting, you will dermal fillers. This is because they help to fill or plump these lines to smooth out your skin and increase its hydration.

How long do the results last?

It will take up to two weeks to see your final results. This is because it takes time for the Botulinum toxin to work and relax your muscles.

You may see some slight redness or swelling in the injection sites. This is normal for most patients and it does go down in the first 24 hours.

Your results will last for 3-4 months. At this point, your muscles will return to their normal function and your lines and wrinkles will start to show again.

To keep your wrinkle-free results, we suggest that you come back to the clinic after three months to have a top-up treatment.

Am I suitable for wrinkle-relaxing injections?

Most adults are suitable for anti-wrinkle treatment. However, we are not able to treat you if you have a skin infection, are pregnant and breastfeeding, or are feeling unwell.

Your doctor will talk through your medical history and assess your skin concerns during the consultation. If you are not a good candidate, we will recommend an alternative treatment for you.
