What is lip filler treatment?

Some people have naturally thin lips. For others, the ageing has led to their lips losing shape and volume, which leads to a flatter appearance. This is where lip fillers can help.

Lip fillers are one of our most popular injectable treatments for women. They provide a quick and easy way to get the lips you have always wanted. Lip fillers enhance the definition of your lips and can also correct asymmetry.

They are a great alternative treatment to surgical lip enhancement, which usually involves lip implants or a lip lift. Dermal fillers do not require much downtime and come with minimal side effects. This means you can get the pout you have always dreamed of in a single treatment and go back to work straight away.

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are a non-invasive treatment that uses a gel-like substance to help restore volume in areas of the face that appear sunken or are starting to sag. They also help to smooth out lines and wrinkles for a more youthful look.

They contain hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body. We lose levels of this protein as we age, which is why we start to see our skin become thin and more fragile.

Hyaluronic acid lip fillers

At The One Clinic, we only use high-quality hyaluronic acid lip fillers for our treatments. This is because they produce instant results that look natural and suit your face shape.

Hyaluronic acid helps to hydrate and plump our skin, which makes it look much healthier and bright. Dermal fillers including lip fillers, help to add hyaluronic acid to the skin. This means fuller lips that look smooth and moisturised. As a result, they can also improve the texture and the feel of your lip area.

Lip fillers can also increase the amount of collagen in your lips. Collagen helps to give your lips their structure and shape, while also keeping the skin more flexible.

What are the best areas for dermal fillers on the face?

Dermal fillers – lip area

To help you get the best results, our doctors will look at your facial anatomy to determine where the lip filler injections will go. These are the areas we focus on:

Above the lips – or the area between the nose and the top of the lip area

Philtrum columns – which are the two lines that connect the top lip with the nose

Cupid’s bow – to help create a bow shape at the centre of the top lip. This is one of the most desired lip shapes

Vermillion lip – the surface of the lip which has the lip colour

Vermillion border – this is the border between the lip outline or margin and the normal skin

Oral commissure – which is the corners of the mouth that tend to drop with age and create a sad appearance

Dermal fillers – the rest of the face

Besides lip fillers, at The One Clinic, we also provide dermal filler treatments for the following:

  •             Cheek fillers
  •             Chin fillers
  •             Jawline fillers
  •             Nose fillers (non-surgical rhinoplasty)
  •             Marionette lines (corner of your mouth to the chin)
  •             Nasolabial folds (side of the nose to the corner of the mouth)
  •             Under the eyes or tear trough fillers

What happens during lip filler treatment in Leicester?

Your consultation

The first step in your dermal filler treatment is to have an in-depth consultation with one of our doctors.

This is where we get to know more about you, your lip concerns and what you want to achieve from your treatment. We will look at your medical history and your skin and face structure to determine how suitable you are for lip filler treatment.

From this thorough consultation, we will develop a personalised treatment plan to help you get the perfect pout.

Your lip filler treatment Leicester

The lip filler treatment starts with the doctor applying a local anaesthetic or topical anaesthetic numbing cream to the lip area. This will help you feel much more comfortable and relaxed during your treatment.

We will also take you through where the injection sites will be and how much dermal filler you will need to get the desired results.

The lip filler injections will happen with a very fine needle at specific points in and around your lips. This will help to give your lips the structure and shape you want. You can expect the treatment session to take 30 minutes.

Lip fillers side effects and post-treatment care

We will keep you in the clinic for 10 minutes after your treatment to ensure that you are feeling okay. We will also provide you with a set of aftercare instructions that will help you take care of your lip region and skin to help the filler settle.

Your lip area may have some swelling and bruising after our treatment. This is completely normal and will go down within the first 24-48 hours.

Following your lip fillers; you should avoid:

  •     Wearing lip balm or lipstick for 24 hours.
  •     Strenuous exercise for 24 hours
  •     Touching your lips, kissing or drinking with a straw for 48 hours
  •     High temperatures for up to 48 hours
  •     Do drink plenty of water

Our team is here to answer any questions you have after your lip filler treatment, so please do contact us if you have any concerns.

How long will my lip fillers last?

You will see visibly plumper lips straight after your treatment. However, it will take a few weeks for the fillers to settle and for your final results to show. You can also expect some slight swelling for the first 48 hours. This is completely normal.

Your results should last between 6-12 months. Results can vary depending on how your body responds to and breaks down the dermal fillers. To maintain your results, we advise that you come in for a top-up treatment at around the 6-9 month mark.

How much do lip fillers cost in Leicester?

The cost of your lip filler treatment will depend on what look you are hoping to achieve and what areas of the lips will need fillers to achieve that look. The cost will also depend on how much dermal filler we will need to use to achieve natural results.

At your consultation, one of our doctors will discuss your personalised treatment plan and how it will cost for this. We will not ask you to proceed with treatment until you are fully informed and happy with what your treatment entails.
