Why should you see a skin specialist at The One Clinic Leicester?

You have a mole, skin tag or other skin lesion you are concerned about

Skin tags and moles are a common skin condition that both men and women develop.

Moles appear as small, dark brown spots on the skin and can develop on the scalp, back, armpits and other areas of the body.

They are mostly harmless and rarely turn into skin cancer, but if they do change shape, size or colour, it is always best to get them checked by a doctor.

Skin tags are soft, skin-coloured growths that hang off the surface of your skin. they tend to develop between folds in your skin or where clothes rub against your skin. The most common areas are neck, armpits, groin, under the breasts and eyelids.

They are harmless and only tend to be removed for cosmetic reasons or because they are becoming uncomfortable or getting irritated.

Minor skin surgery for moles and skin tags

If you have several skin lesions and are unsure of what they are, you should always consult with a doctor first before seeking treatment. At The One Clinic, our team of doctors perform minor surgery to help with the removal of moles, warts and skin tags.

For moles, we use the following surgical treatments:

  •       Shave excision – a minor type of surgery that involves using a surgical scalpel to

remove a mole without the need for stitches.

  •       Punch excision – which is good for moles, birthmarks and other skin lesions. It involves

using a tiny round tool to punch out skin lesions under local anaesthetic. You do need

some stitches after this minor surgery, but these come out after two weeks.

For skin tags we use the following surgical treatments:

  •     Cryosurgery – also known as cryotherapy. This involves the use of extremely cold liquid

nitrogen, which safely destroys the skin tag without damaging any healthy skin tissue.

You may need 2-4 treatments to fully remove a skin tag.

  •       Shave excision – as with mole removal, we use a surgical scalpel to remove the skin

tag away from the healthy skin underneath.

Our doctors may also recommend laser treatments for mole removal and skin tag removal. This is less invasive than a small surgical procedure, but it is only suitable for smaller moles that are relatively flat. While it can provide a neater result, there is a small risk that a mole can come back after laser treatment.

Any skin lesions that we remove from your skin are always sent to local skin cancer screening clinics so that they can test them. This is to determine whether there are any cancerous or abnormal cells that need further treatment.

To treat thread veins, sun damage and other pigmentation issues

There are a number of reasons why you might start to see unwanted pigmentation on your skin. This can range from too much exposure to the sun to changes in your hormones.

If you can see dark spots or dark patches of skin, we can help to treat this with a course Laser/ IPL treatment.

At The One Clinic, we use the Lumecca laser by InMode. This is one of the most powerful IPL lasers on the market. It works by using high-intensity beams of light to target red and brown lesions in your skin. It pulls them closer to the surface of your skin and destroys them.

It is an effective treatment for tackling thread veins, sun damage and age spots. We can also use IPL treatment to help shrink the size of your pores and kill acne-causing bacteria on the skin.

On top of this, because the light waves your skin absorbs turn into heat, this also stimulates new collagen production. As a result, you will achieve skin that is clearer, smoother and fuller than before.

Targeted treatment for thread veins

Laser treatment can be a great solution for reducing the appearance of thread veins. However, one of the best ways to shrink the appearance of thread veins is through Sclerotherapy.

Sclerotherapy can help to treat single thread veins and small clusters of spider veins.  It is an injectable treatment that uses a sclerosing solution.

Your doctor will inject this directly into the thread veins, which causes them to swell and stick together. Over time, the solution will destroy the unhealthy veins and they will be removed by the body. You may require more than one treatment depending on the size and how many thread veins you have.

To help your skin look fresh, radiant and youthful

At The One Clinic, we provide a number of different skin treatments that can tackle various skin concerns. From fine lines and wrinkles to acne scarring and an uneven skin tone and texture, we can find a treatment that will help you achieve skin that glows.

We tailor our treatments to your skin type and specific skin needs. During your consultation, we will assess your skin issues and create a bespoke treatment plan that will give you amazing results.

Below are just a few of our most popular treatments:

Chemical peels – use a chemical solution to exfoliate the skin and remove dead skin cells. This helps new and healthy skin cells to grow, leaving your skin looking bright and radiant. They can help treat dull skin, treat acne breakouts, age spots and minimise lines and wrinkles.

HydraFacial – a next-level facial that provides deep cleansing, exfoliation and hydration to the skin. It is great for treating congested skin, brightening your skin tone, fading pigmentation and improving the overall health of your skin.

Dermal fillers – help to plump and add definition to the skin. They smooth out deep lines and wrinkles and can help reshape the nose, chin, cheeks and lips.

Wrinkle relaxing injections – work by relaxing the facial muscles to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles including crow’s feet, frown lines and lip lines.
