About our dermatologfical services

The purpose of a consultation with a dermatologist at our Leicester clinic  is to investigate the development of certain skin conditions, including: eczema, psoriasis, acne, alopecia, hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), fungal infections (skin and / or nails), rosacea, skin lesions, vitiligo, lichen planus and sclerosis, warts, blistering skin conditions, urticaria / angio-oedema, connective tissue disorder, Bowen’s disease and infestations.

At the consultation you will be examined by the doctor who will be able to identify and diagnose the existing condition. In many cases a dermatologist intervenes when the patient does not respond to the treatment advised by a doctor, and the patient will be referred in order to receive more specialist advice and treatment solutions.

The dermatologist will be able to follow up with the patient on a regular basis, monitoring the effectiveness of the current treatment. Treatment plans are tailored to the individual and may change over time, depending on how well the patient responds.

Dermatology Treatments

Treatments for skin conditions may include: topical creams, oral medication, minor surgery for excision and / or biopsy and cryotherapy. Our doctors are fully qualified and are able to issue the necessary prescriptions.

Dermatology FAQs

Who is suitable for a dermatology consultation?

A dermatology consultation is specifically for patients who are concerned with an existing skin condition and need further help with getting the right treatment. In many cases a patient has visited the doctor and has then been referred to the dermatologist for further investigation.

What are the benefits of seeing a private dermatologist ?

A dermatologist is a specialist in diagnosing and treating skin conditions. The treatment options they recommend will help to manage the concern, or clear it up completely. A range of approaches may need to be explored in order to find the right regime for you.

Will I always see the same practitioner?

Our doctors each have their own area of expertise. You will be seen by the doctor within our practice who specialises in dermatology.

Will my dermatology appointments be at The One Clinic?

In most cases a face-to-face appointment is required as a physical examination may be required. Patients will be asked to come to The One Clinic for each appointment, however, special arrangements can be made for those who are physically unable to come in person.

Will I need to be seen frequently?

You will be given your own treatment plan according to your specific condition. This is usually an on-going plan and your dermatologist will advise when appointments need to be made.
