Although there are a range of health issues that affect all people of all ages, there are some conditions that will only affect men.
This is due to the biological makeup of the male body, which contains certain things that the female body does not. The One Clinic dedicates a part of their service to addressing men’s health, conducting a health screening programme that helps a man to ensure his body and certain functions remain in good health.
An initial consultation will assess and treat the following:
Testosterone replacement – as well as being essential for sexual function, this naturally occurring sex hormone (which is more dominant in men) is also needed to preserve muscle mass. Levels of testosterone can decline for many reasons (not just ageing), and can lead to: weight gain, decreased muscle mass, decrease in bone mass, low libido, ED and hair loss. A private consultation will determine if hormone replacement will be beneficial to help improve general heath, well-being and sexual functioning.
Prostate health – Located at the neck of the bladder, the prostate gland produces the fluid that is used to nourish and transport sperm. It’s common for the prostate gland to become enlarged in older men, and is the most common site for cancer to form. Treating and managing this condition is more effective when found at an early stage which is why we provide a prostate health check as part of our male health screening programme.
Erectile Dysfunction (ED) – Although this concern mainly affects older men, younger men can also experience ED. This condition can have a profound effect on a man’s well-being, as it can impact relationships and cause feelings of inadequacy. The One Clinic wants to break through the taboos associated with talking about this concern (especially for younger men) as treatment can be very effective, restoring sexual functioning and confidence. Treatments include: medical and non-medical management, injectable treatments or surgery.
